Thank you for joining the running celebrations at the 26th Lattelecom Riga Marathon
Friends, we want you to say a big thank you for an unforgettable running festival and weekend here in Riga, which brought together more than 30 000 participants from 65 countries! Thanks to our sponsors, partners and especially the volunteers who helped organize a wonderful event for all participants and spectators.
This year we celebrated two new course records, we were proud of our own Anita Kažemāka who qualified for the Olympics in RIO, and, of course, we were very happy for all finishers' achievements and personal goals.

The 26th Lattelecom Riga Marathon brought together 33,590 participants from 65 countries. The largest number of registered runners was for the 6 km distance - 12 482, while the 10 km distance brought 6,512 participants, half-marathon - 4313, but marathon - 1,759 participants.
The fastest marathoner of the day was Dominic Kangor Kimwetich (Kenya) who finished the 42 195 meter long track in Riga with the result 2:11:45 setting a new Lattelecom Riga marathon course record, while at the women's competition the fastest proved to be Shitaye Gemechu Debellu (Ethiopia) with the result 2:38:40. Best of Latvian athletes were Renārs Roze, who finished with 2:19:52. Latvian women's competition was won by Anita Kažemāka, who reached the finish with the result 2:44:09, thus fulfilling the Rio de Janeiro Olympic qualification time.
The Half Marathon race for was won by Kenyan Ibrahim Makunga Wachira with the result 1:05:26, setting a new track record. Jānis Girgensons (1:05:41), last year's champion, lost to 2nd place winner Davit Kharazishvili (Georgia), who in Riga set a new national record for Georgia (1:05:38). Women's competition, as it was expected, was won by Jeļena Prokopčuka with the result 1:16:06, leaving the second place to Rasa Drazdauskaite from Lithuania with 1:16:22 and third place to Latvian Ilona Marhele (1:16:37).
10 km men's competition was won Reinis Hartmanis (Latvia) with the result of 0:30:23, while the women’s completion was won by Maria Caballero (Paraguay) with the result 0:37:27.
The greatest number of participants gathered in the 6 km distance, which went to a starting 12,482 runners. As in previous years on the 6 km podium stood only Latvian athletes. Fastest of the day - 19 minutes 32 seconds – was Kristaps Kaimiņš. The fastest at the women's competition was Līga Jansone clocking 0:23:18.
